Updated Research Matrix on border restrictions in Europe

The situation regarding entry requirements in Europe is extremely complex and fragmented, and at times unclear.

In an attempt to see the situation more clearly, HOTREC has designed a matrix document to show where intra-European travel is authorized, restricted (with mandatory quarantines and/or testing requirements) or heavily restricted (essential travel authorized only). We have done our utmost to ensure the information in this matrix is accurate (as of today, 7 October) but would nonetheless very much welcome any corrections you might want to suggest.

With the previous update of this document (29 September) , HOTREC noted a significant increase of travel restrictions during the previous fortnight. Several countries had in particular imposed new restrictions on travelers from the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia. The tendency towards more, rather than less, travel restrictions has continued between 29 September and 7 October; however this tendency is less strong and the countries covered in this document also appear to be making changes less frequently.
