/ ExCom welcomes a new ExCom Member from Belgium

Vienna, Thursday 26 April 2018 – during its 76th General Assembly, HOTREC, the European umbrella association of hotels, restaurants and cafés, elected Mr. Marc Van Muylders representing Belgium as a new Executive Committee (ExCom) Member, in replacement of Mr. Danny Van Assche, former CEO of Horeca Vlaanderen and appointed CEO of UNIZO on 1 January 2018. “It is a pleasure to welcome Mr. Van Muylders, a well known entrepreneur and negotiator also strongly involved in industry associations. I look forward to strengthening our ExCom strategic outputs thanks to his longstanding experience in hospitality” said Mrs. Susanne Kraus-Winkler, President of HOTREC. Mr. Marc Van Muylders, Vice-President of Fed. Ho.Re.Ca Brussels and President of the Hotel and Guest Accommodations section of the Brussels Region (Belgium) stated: “I am happy to join the dynamic ExCom Team of HOTREC. My intention is to give a constructive input as an entrepreneur”. The HOTREC Executive Committee is composed of 11 Members, representing 11 European countries by the President Mrs. Susanne Kraus-Winkler (Austria); Vice-President Mr. Ákos Niklai (Hungary); Treasurer Mr. Marinus Cordesius (the Netherlands); Mr. Jens Zimmer Christensen (Denmark); Mrs. Agni Christidou (Greece); Mr. Adrian Cummins (Ireland); Mr. Ramón Estalella (Spain); Mr. Samuel Lacombe (France); Mr. Markus Luthe (Germany);  Mr. Manfred Pinzger (Italy); and Mr. Marc Van Muylders (Belgium). HOTREC represents the hotel, restaurant and café industry at European level. The sector counts in total around 1.9 million businesses, being 99,5% small and medium sized enterprises (90% are micro enterprises, i.e. employing less than 10 people). These businesses make up some 60% of value added. The industry provides some 11.1 million jobs in the EU alone. Together with the other tourism industries, the sector is the 3rd largest industry in Europe. HOTREC brings together 43 national associations representing the interest of this industry in 30 different European countries.
