/ Franz Hörl honoured with the European Hospitality Foundation Award

Vienna, 26 April 2018 - Franz Hörl, receives today the European Hospitality Foundation (EHF) Award during  the  76th  General  Assembly  of  HOTREC.  This  prize  recognises the dedication of Mr. Hörl to the hospitality sector in Austria.
"I am glad to honour Mr. Franz Hörl with this specific symbol of prestige of the European hospitality sector, for his many years of work contributing to the development of tourism in Austria.”, said Ms. Susanne KrausWinkler, President of Hotrec and of the EHF. "This award aims at recognising Mr. Franz Hörl contribution in the field of the tourism sector over the last decades”, added Mr. Joan Gaspart, Vice-President of EHF. Franz Hörl has dedicated his life to tourism and politics and has become one of the most influential tourism stakeholders in Austria. Mr. Hörl is a longstanding entrepreneur in the hospitality industry and manages the family owned Gaspingerhof Hotel as well as the ski resort Schilift-Zentrum-Gerlos, two leading tourism companies in Tyrol. Since 1983, he was constantly active as an industry representative and in politics. Since 2010 he is President of the Association of the Austrian Cableways in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO). Furthermore, Mr. Hörl is a longstanding member of the Austrian National Council and was reelected again on 15 October 2017 for another 5 years period. Mr. Hörl has become the voice of Tyrol by advocating the interests of the tourism sector all over Austria.

It has always been a pleasure to be involved in this wonderful sector” said Mr. Hörl. The European Hospitality Foundation award is delivered twice a year to a personality who has contributed, in a remarkable manner, and/ or for a significant number of years to the activities of the hospitality industry. The EHF award was designed by Miquel Planas, famous artist and chairman of the Sculpture Department of Fine  Arts of  the Fine Arts Faculty of Barcelona. The next EHF award ceremony will take place on 18 October in Poland.
