Interview with Mr Mark Boekwijt, EU representative of the city of Amsterdam
Mr Mark Boekwijt (1964) graduated from the European School in Brussels and continued to study International Law and Communications Science at the University of Amsterdam. He worked on policy and research in the Dutch audiovisual industry, before becoming an advisor on media affairs for the city of The Hague. Since 2002 Mark is a strategic advisor for the mayor and deputy-mayors of the city of Amsterdam, on several issues such as Integration, Housing, Monuments, local Media. In 2011 he became the EU representative for Amsterdam, based in Brussels.

First appointed Minister of State in 2017, he was previously elected as Senator of the Yvonne department in 2014 and 2020. In 2014, he also served as the mayor of the city of Vallery. He is a graduate of the Strasbourg Institute of Political Science and ESSEC Business School in Paris.

Interview with MEP Josianne Cutajar
Josianne Cutajar is the youngest Member to ever represent the Maltese Islands in the European Parliament. As a member of the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy, as well as the Committee for Transport and Tourism and that for Regional Development, she strongly advocates for tourism to be adequately recognized at the European level. Through her work on DSA first, and DMA after, she has called for efficient regulation on digital platforms to ensure fair markets and end abusive practices that can hurt SMEs within the tourism sector. MEP Cutajar is also an active member of the European Parliament’s Tourism Task Force, wherein she has been advocating for greater coordination at the EU level as well as the importance of addressing issues faced by the travel and tourism sector during this pandemic and strengthening connectivity.
