Employers call for a practical approach to psychosocial risks at work

HOTREC has joined European employers and business representatives in calling on the European Parliament to reject the legislative annex of the INL report “2026/2023 Psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work”.

Employers fully support the objective of preventing psychosocial risks and protecting mental health at work. However, the proposed legislative approach would introduce disproportionate and overly prescriptive obligations that go beyond what is reasonable or effective, particularly for SMEs.

Instead of additional legislation, the signatories call for a practical and evidence-based approach focused on improving the implementation and enforcement of the existing occupational safety and health framework, compiling good practices, developing non-binding EU-level guidelines, promoting social partner dialogue and regularly evaluating the impact of existing measures.
