HOTREC is looking for an experienced and motivated Public Affairs Manager to join its Brussels-based team and support its advocacy work on behalf of Europe’s hospitality sector.

The position will focus on consumer-related topics, food and circularity, including EU policy files linked to packaging, the circular economy, food contact materials, waste and related areas. The role will report to the Director General and will play an important part in shaping HOTREC’s policy positions and advocacy strategy in these areas.

HOTREC represents hotels, restaurants, bars and cafés at European level, bringing together 47 national associations from 36 countries. The sector comprises around 2 million businesses and supports over 11 million jobs. Hospitality and tourism are vital drivers of Europe’s economy, contributing around 10% of the EU’s GDP, with 90% of HOTREC members’ establishments being micro-enterprises and almost all being SMEs.

The successful candidate will monitor and analyse EU policy developments, draft position papers, briefing notes and speaking points, represent HOTREC in meetings with EU institutions and stakeholders, and coordinate HOTREC’s expert working group on Restaurants. The role will also involve preparing contributions for internal and public meetings, keeping members informed through clear and timely updates, and supporting events such as seminars, webinars and working sessions.

Candidates should have a university degree in EU law, economics, political science or a related field, together with 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience. A solid understanding of EU policy-making and legislative processes is required, as well as expertise in at least one relevant area such as agri-food, packaging, circular economy or similar policy fields.

HOTREC offers the opportunity to help shape EU policy affecting one of Europe’s most important industries, within a collaborative and people-oriented team environment. The role also provides exposure to a wide network of stakeholders, opportunities for EU-wide travel, flexible working conditions and a competitive remuneration package.

Applications should include a CV and cover letter and be sent to Sergey Golyshin, Director – EU Recruitments at Mavence, at [email protected], and to Jade-Ihintza Droneau, Communication & Recruitment Assistant at Mavence, at [email protected].

  3. Why do you want to work for HOTREC and represent the hospitality sector at EU level? Maximum 500 characters.
