HOTREC Hotel Distribution Study 2022
As announced at the 83rd HOTREC General Assembly, HOTREC will be once again working with the HES-SO Valais School of Management (Prof. Roland Schegg) to undertake a detailed study and survey of how the hotel distribution market is involving and what were the sources of hotel bookings in 2021, with particular focus on online bookings and the role of OTAs. The studies of 2018 and 2020 are available here on HOTREC’s website.
Experience shows that this study is of great value and use for HOTREC Members, EU and national policy makers, key stakeholders, researchers, consulting companies and the press. The more responses from hotels in different markets we can gather, the better and more authoritative the results of the research are. This is why the full involvement and engagement of HOTREC Members is crucial to gather as many responses across different markets as possible. Please note that we can make special arrangements to gather data from hotel chains.
The study questionnaire is now open online for responses by hotels during February and March 2022 (1 February 2022-31 March 2022). We expect to have preliminary results ready for the HOTREC General Assembly of spring 2022 (27-29 April in Prague) and full final results by June 2022.
We fully count on your support and engagement to share the hyperlink to the survey questionnaire to your hotelier members and actively inform them about the importance of completing this survey. We encourage you to share the hyperlink with your Members via direct emails, your association’s newsletter and your website.

As you will see by clicking the hyperlink, the user of the survey reaches a language menu. Once the language is chosen, the survey questionnaire needs to be completed by the user in the chosen language.
Via this online survey, HOTREC and HES SO Valais will be collecting competed surveys centrally. We therefore do not ask you to collect results to the questionnaire on our behalf. HES SO Valais School of Management (Dr. Roland Schegg) will analyse and process results and develop a report.
