ISO TC228 project: "Measures to reduce the spread of the Covid -19 in the tourism industry"
The International Standardization Organization (ISO) is currently working on a project to develop "Measures to reduce the spread of the Covid -19 in the tourism industry".
The work, undertaken by ISO TC228 for tourism and a purposely established dedicated subgroup (WG18 - Measures to reduce the spread of the Covid -19 in the tourism industry) since September 2020 is likely to lead to new guidance for all tourism sector organisations, including hotels, restaurants, cafés and bars, by mid to late spring next year. The measures take inspiration from WHO guidelines and are based on work undertaken by the Spanish standardization body UNE / ICTE in spring 2020 which was validated by the Spanish Ministry of Health. It should be noted that the outcome of this project will not lead to a normative ISO standard.
