Social Affairs
The European hospitality industry is a significant employer, directly employing 10 million workers. As a result, EU measures related to social affairs hold great importance for the industry.
Over the years, the EU has implemented numerous legislative measures in social policy. Key areas include the organization of work, consultation and information of workers, health and safety standards, equal treatment in the workplace, and work-life balance.
Engaging in a sectoral social dialogue at the EU level, HOTREC collaborates with EFFAT, its trade union counterpart. Together, HOTREC and EFFAT address various common interests and emerging trends in the industry.
As a recognized social partner, HOTREC is consulted by the European Commission before proposals are made.
