HOTREC Newsletter

Dear readers,

As the year comes to a close, it is time to reflect on the impactful events that have brought hospitality leaders and EU policymakers together. The 89th General Assembly in Warsaw marked a milestone in advancing our shared goals, strengthening collaboration, and celebrating the resilience of our sector. HOTREC’s President and Executive Committee were elected to lead and serve the European hospitality sector for the next two years.

December was particularly special, as we welcomed EU Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, distinguished MEPs, and HOTREC members at the European Hospitality Day in the heart of the European Parliament. This event opened the dialogue with decision-makers on the future of hospitality, and highlighted our industry's commitment to sustainability while maintaining competitiveness.

We were also proud to participate in the Rhodes Forum event with travel and tourism organisations, MEPs from the Tourism Task Force, and Commissioner Tzitzikostas, emphasising the importance of cross-sector partnerships in mitigating the impacts of climate change on European travel and tourism.

The newsletter covers key EU policy developments including (1) DMA and Booking.com (2) Digital Trends for Restaurants (3) Guidelines on Crisis Resilience (4) Digital Travel Documents (5) Social Affairs and Restructuring (6) Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence.

As we wrap up 2024, HOTREC would like to wish you a joyful festive season filled with peace and hope. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey, and we look forward to achieving new goals together in the year ahead.

Best wishes,

The HOTREC Team
