HOTREC and its members join call to suspend Russia from the UNWTO

HOTREC wants to express its support for the people of Ukraine and through its member, the Ukrainian Hotel and Resorts Association (UHRA) and the thousands of workers in the hospitality business.

We strongly condemn the country’s invasion by Russia and, ahead of the World Tourism Organisation’s Executive Council meeting on 8 March, we joined the call by several UNWTO members to suspend the Russian Federation from the Organisation.

“Our members have expressed their sorrow at the lives lost and the damage done to Ukraine.” Stated Mr Jens Zimmer Christensen, President of HOTREC. “We urge the UNWTO members to listen to our appeal. Tourism is a force of peace and mutual understanding: the industry must now send a strong message that such acts of unprovoked aggression will not go unpunished.”
