Towards sustainable tourism in Europe

HOTREC fully supports the promotion of sustainable, responsible and high-quality tourism and is committed to contributing to the sustainable economic development objectives set out by the United Nations Sustainable Developments Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular:

  • SDG 3 (good health and well-being)
  • SDG 8 (promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all)
  • SDG 12 (ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns)
  • SDG 17 (revitalise the global partnership for sustainable development)

Our position focuses on HOTREC's active engagement in various sustainability-related activities at EU and UN level and what's next to contribute pave the way to a sustainable hospitality and tourism industry in Europe. HOTREC’s top 4 lines of actions on sustainability include:

  • The support and promotion of good and sustainable practices
  • The promotion of the use of energy-efficient products and renewable energy sources
  • The promotion of actions to reduce food waste
  • The promotion ad development of skilled labour through training and career development
