HOTREC has established this extended and detailed overview of economic measures taken by each of the 27 EU Member States to support the recovery of the economy. This document is a condensed version on the measures listed by the European Commission in their “Policy measures taken against the spread and impact of the coronavirus – 17 July 2020”i document. In addition, information from further research has been added as well. The measures listed below are strictly limited to measures that either apply specifically to the hospitality and tourism sector but also general measures from which these sectors may benefit as well. In general, the measures have been divided into 5 categories:
  1. Specific Measures for the Hospitality and Tourism Sector
  2. Tax Measures
  3. Employment and Labour Measures
  4. Loan and Guarantee Measures
  5. Others (These include rental relief measures, direct hand-outs, subsidies and measures on re- and up-skilling employees as well as measures on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)).
We would like to warmly thank our summer trainee Enya Stephan for compiling this information. Please feel free to contact the HOTREC secratriat if you have any comments, suggestions or corrections.
